چکیده

This study involved the prevalence of uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) among outpatients UTI attending three major hospitals in Zakho city. Four hundred urine samples were collected from patients both sexes and different ages (≤ 1 year to over 50 years), during period July 2018 until January 2019. All analyzed by conventional bacteriological method for presence (E. coli), while molecular was used species-specific uidA gene isolated E. coli. Out 400 samples, 141 (35.25%) infected with UPEC enrolled patients. The rate higher females than males (90.78% vs 9.22%), respectively. In sexes, age group 41-50 years showed highest (46.67%) infection, statistically this infection significant (p< 0.013) various groups. Furthermore, all ages, married slightly un-married one (38% 32.5%), but difference non-significant (p>0.05%). urban inhabitants (40.56%) others. During months year, peak (90.48%) December lowest rates (13.64%) January.

the fimh gene in uropathogenic escherichia coli strains isolated from patients with urinary tract infection

conclusions the results of this study indicated that more than 90% of e. coli isolates harbored the fimh gene. the high binding ability of fimh could result in the increased pathogenicity of e. coli; thus, fimh could be used as a possible diagnostic marker and/or vaccine candidate. materials and methods a total of 140 isolated e. coli strains from patients with uti were identified using biochem...

The FimH Gene in Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Strains Isolated From Patients With Urinary Tract Infection

BACKGROUND Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of main health problems caused by many microorganisms, including uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC). UPEC strains are the most frequent pathogens responsible for 85% and 50% of community and hospital acquired UTIs, respectively. UPEC strains have special virulence factors, including type 1 fimbriae, which can result in worsening of UTIs. O...

Transcriptome of uropathogenic Escherichia coli during urinary tract infection.

A uropathogenic Escherichia coli strain CFT073-specific DNA microarray that includes each open reading frame was used to analyze the transcriptome of CFT073 bacteria isolated directly from the urine of infected CBA/J mice. The in vivo expression profiles were compared to that of E. coli CFT073 grown statically to exponential phase in rich medium, revealing the strategies this pathogen uses in v...

A comparative study of the prevalence of extended-spectrum β-lactamaseproducing Escherichia coli among urinary and fecal Escherichia coli isolates of women with urinary tract infection in Kerman city

Background & Aim: Important challenge for treatment of urinary tract infections is the spread of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) producing Escherichia coli. Therefore, the frequencies of main beta-lactamase genes, resistance to beta-lactams and the ability of ESBLs production in urinary and fecal Escherichia coli of women with urinary tract infections were compared. Methods: In 60 Es...
